Teaching & Worship

3:15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 4:1 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

2 Timothy 3:15–4:4 (ESV)

Teaching and worship are the primary means by which Covenant Baptist Church accomplishes its responsibility as a local expression of the body of Christ. We believe that the primary component for doing this is God’s Word, because in it He tells us who He is, prescribes for us how He is to be worshipped, and gives us everything we need for life and godliness. We are not concerned with programs or entertainment; instead all our ministries are focused on edification through biblical teaching. God’s people need to be equipped for every good work that He has appointed for them, not affirmed in self-serving passions. His cure for wrong thinking and wrong living is sound (healthy) doctrine. This is why we do not seek to tickle ears but rather consider it extremely important to preach and teach sound doctrine through verse by verse exposition of God’s word.
