The church elders, after studying and praying over the matter for several years, have decided to open an orphanage in Guntur, India. The two other churches that help with the Mission Team plan to help with this orphanage also. We are still praying about a name for it. Below is more information about it.
Who’s doing the work?
Pastor Prabhu and his wife, Leena, will be taking on this responsibility. In 2018, through the Mission Team, Covenant Baptist Church established a church plant in Guntur, also named Covenant Baptist Church. We have been working with them and supporting their work since then. The orphanage’s house will be located near the church.
What it will do?
“but Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.'”
Through this effort, we can get these children off the streets and into a house where they can learn about Jesus and be fed meals from a table rather than a trash pile. We plan to start with twenty boys. However, Lord willing, we hope He will bless us with another house to get twenty girls off the street. It will take about $3230 to get it started. This will cover rent for the house, food to stock the kitchen, electricity, 10 bunk beds with mattresses, clothing, and a kitchen stove. For a more detailed list or if you have any questions, please see Elder Alton Crapps.
What can you do?
Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
First and foremost, please pray as we seek God’s will and His strength in this matter. Getting these children out of trash dumps, and into a home, a bed, and a church will come to only $41 per child per month. If you would like to participate financially, you can earmark checks or envelopes with ‘India Orphanage’ or you can give online here.
